I received a Masters of Arts (MA) in clinical psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from Antioch University, California. I am a licensed MFT and Board Certified Life Coach. I also received Certifications in Health and Wellness and Biofeedback. In addition I have intensive and targeted training in the areas of Stress Management and Domestic Violence.
My experience over the last 20 years has included working in both the private and public sectors. These activities involved intensive and thorough intakes and comprehensive case management, (i.e., assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning). My work with both adults and children included crisis intervention, medication support, advocacy, linkage to peer support, discharge and aftercare planning. I have also counseled and provided educational programs for families living with alcohol and other substance abuse issues.
In my private practice I offer health and lifestyle interventions and motivational counseling. I specialized in using Cognitive Therapy to treat depression and manage stress. However it is important to mention the that I have extensive training and knowledge in working individually and with families dealing with the challenges of a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum (with a focus on Aspegers) and those dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
As a coach, I help my clients to move through stages of change, to reach and support their goals. I help my clients in finding their strengths, and establishing wellness goals. I use inquisitive, discovery-based methods to help the client realize desired outcomes. I do not diagnose pathologies or root causes of detrimental behavior. Rather as a coach, I identify through active listening, empathetic questioning and assessments, the best options that the client can take, to find success. I use a strength based, present and future based approach. It is founded in the belief that the client has the ability to access tools and knowledge to realize her/his highest potential.
